'Twas the Night Before Jesus Came

Post by C_B » Thu Jul 10, 2008 8:18 pm

Ok i got a little poem to share with yall. I didn't write it my dad got it from one of his friends. I think it is great and just thought i would share it with yall!

Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
There Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
the children were dressing to crawl into bed.
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while i took a nap.
When out of the East there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window i flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be "THE DAY!"
The light of his face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! returning just like he had said.
And though i possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when i saw Him in spite of myself.
In the book of life which He held in his hand,
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as he searched for my name:
When He said "It's not here" my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to his Father above
With those who were ready He rose without a sound
While all the rest were left standing around.
I fell to my knees, but it was too late:
I had waited to long and thus sealed my fate.
I stodd and i cried as they rise out of site:
Oh, if only i had been ready tonight.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear:
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call
We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

Now that's a good poem isnt it! If you would like to know how to be saved and rise with the other believers and not to be left here alone. Drop me an email. I will be more than happy to show you how to rise with the Lord.

That was GREAT, CB. I've read a version of that poem several years ago. It never fails to move me. The poem hits the nail on the head. We'd better be ready, HE will come like a thief in the night and take us home at anytime. It's really so sad that some people will not be ready.

Have you read the Left Behind series of books? If not, you really need to. It explains a lot about what happens when the rapture occurs. I've read all of the books. There's about 12 of them, I think.

yeah, thanks for posting it here Chicken Breeder. I showed it to my dad and he loved it.
Left Behind is great, but not completely accurate. Not to change the subject(like I'd do that), but there a ton of debate about when the rapture(s) will occur, and who will be taken. People base their opinions on one or two short verses, which aren't always crystal clear. There's one verse that mentions 144,000. Some people take that literally, some don't.
I could go on and on... My dad spent a good portion of his life studying end times stuff. I can find a TON of websites if anyone wanted them... This one site has a quote on it...
"I'd rather be prepared for the tribulation and be surprised by the rapture, than be prepared for the rapture and be surprised by the tribulation"
Regardless of how and when any of it will happen, it will happen and it's important to know about it ahead of time...
one of the best things in the first left behind movie was when that pastor guy said something about if you didn't know the truth, you would be led astray... anyway...
"But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:"
- Job 12:7
