Raisin Pudding and Hard Fudge

Post by birdman »

Does anyone have a really simple recipe for raisin pudding that a man who can burn water can follow? My mother use to make it when I was a kid and she is 82 now and I don't think she can make it now like she use to. Also my grandfather use to make fudge in pie plates, it was about a half inch think and use to get hard by the next day, any ideas on how to make it come out that way? Like I said I have burnt water hahahahahahaa so if you have any recipes and answer this posting, your not writing to a cook so make each step very clear, thanks and God Bless you

I have some old candy recipes that my dad and grandpap used to make. This might be similar to what you are looking for on the fudge recipe.

Old-fashioned Hard Fudge

2/3 C milk
1/3 C cocoa
2 C sugar
dash of salt
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla

Mix milk and cocoa in pan over low heat until cocoa is dissolved.
Add sugar, salt and cream of tartar. Cook and stir over medium
heat till soft ball stage. Remove from heat.

Add 2-3 Tb butter or margarine. Let cool till butter is melted
(or a little longer if you want). Add vanilla. Beat with electric
mixer until it starts to set up. Pour into buttered pan and let
cool.

Thanks for posting that. I'll let him know he got a reply.
