Thanks! Well ive come to discover that it was not squirrels with further research it was either a bluejay or mocking bird. Poor squirrels... i got some fellow bluebird lovers to help me solve the crime... So they came down toa mockingbird or a bluejay...

hmm, they'd know far more than I do about the topic... but I would think it would be difficult for a blue jay to mess with it. That hole isn't very big, and blue jays are a bit big.
Any chance you've seen any blue jays or mockingbirds around?

Guess what CB...
this nesting box that I setup early last year, and I don't believe it ever got used...
I have a pair of bluebirds working on a nest in it now.
I've seen them in it a few times now, on different days.
The only problem is it's up on the side of a tree. No squirrel baffle is even possible.
Hopefully nothing will raid the nest...
The birds seem to like it so far, and I will try real hard to get some halfway decent pictures of them at some point this weekend. They're such beautiful birds.

Arent they! Congratulations! Thats great they are nesting there! Just be careful and watch out for snakes. They love nest boxes on trees... Keep us updates!
