My parents have coyotes in their woods; I've lost some chickens to them before :(

I have a decent camera, but I would love a really nice one too! Maybe one day....

We tried our best to keep our birds locked up pretty tight so I never had a problem with coyotes. Well, there was a time we left probably close to 20 ducklings outside and forgot about them... never found any of them so I can't say what happened to them.
When animals did get in, I'd fix things up tighter. We haven't had birds in a while now but I had one pen so tight that even snakes had a hard time finding their way in.
Oh, we did have a few guineas that decided to nest in a neighbor's yard. We lost some of those to predators.
In the future I plan on keeping less and pretty much not letting them out much if any.
We're considering getting a few birds this year but we'll see. The pens we have are sort of being used for storage at the moment. Got to clean those things out.

We've never had a coyote get in one of the pens, it would be when I let my chickens out during the day! I thought coyotes were nocturnal, but I looked it up and they do come out during the day when they're really hungry.

yeah, you don't see them during the day very often but it does happen. It's tough raising poultry with so many predators...
