a grub

Postby millipede » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:34 pm

Grubs are pretty interesting. They're just the young stage of a beetle.
I don't know my beetles and grubs well enough to tell what kind of beetle a grub will turn into. But, maybe I'll learn.
I was outside the other day and found a hole in the ground. It looked like something was in there so I dug it up. I found this decent sized grub down there.
I have it in a tank in my house now. So if all goes well I will find out what kind of beetle this will turn into.

This thing was cold(It's cold out) and so it wasn't moving much. Stayed rolled up like that, so I had no problem holding it. I want to see what it will be later on, so it's setup in a tank in my living room now with some pill bugs and crickets. :D

I found quite a few grubs in my garden last year...I usually gave them to my chickens for a snack LOL. I'm not afraid to pick them up; I've never been squeemish about creepy crawlies.

you know it's interesting just how many different grubs there are, and how so many just look alike. So any time you see one, who knows what it would turn into...
I need to go find more now.
