cricket

I have a lot of cricket pictures too ;D
But this one is one of my pets... I have a few crickets in a container, along with snails and pill bugs, that I may eventually use to feed my lizards... I just had to share this picture though.
I looked over and was surprised by how this one appeared. It was JUST finishing a molt. If you look on the left side you can see the molted skin behind it. The entire body and wings are back to a normal dark color now...

That cricket sure looks funny... I knew they molted because I've seen the skins they leave behind but I've never seen one just afterwards.

I love the sound crickets make in the summertime. ;)

yeah, it doesn't look like that anymore... back to its normal color. And it didn't really make much noise before that molt, but now it does. Must have been an age thing or something.

There's another insect in the picture... can anyone find it?

so close, yet doubly wrong... There's no lettuce in there... that's the leafy part of celery... and if you're seeing what is actually there, it is a pill bug. There's a bunch of those in there.

Ooops. ::)

If I'd been paying attention I woulda seen that was celery. I still think it looks a little like a grub... but I see how it's a pill bug. :)

grubs are more of a whitish color, that there is gray.

Well yeah, you're right I guess. ::) ;)

I will say that I've seen some greyish-greenish grubs before though. Or I guess they're cutworms.
