I was cutting down some weeds today, and some sumac trees... TONS of sumac trees... they're kind of like a weed filling in what some consider waste areas... Since I don't have grass, just weeds, the sumac kind of pop up everywhere.
Anyway... I found an old bird nest in one while cutting them down. I was only a few feet above the ground. I wonder what kind of bird made it.

Ever consider how amazing it is that birds are even capable of building such a structure? I amazes me... I'm not sure I could take a bunch of sticks and stuff and turn it into something that would keep a shape AND hold me. Simply amazing.

I don't know - but I'd guess a field sparrow or something like that. I found one of those nests probably less than 3 feet above the ground once - with the little family in it. :)

Bird nests are amazing... with the exception of Mourning Dove nests. :) I think I could build one of those. :)

Ever try making lemonade with sumac? I haven't, but I've heard it's okay, if you can sweeten it enough.

lemonade with sumac huh? Never heard that... any kind of sumac, or is it a specific sumac? There's quite a few to choose from.

I've never seen a mourning dove's nest... that bad huh?

She was already in the nest... I had to cut her out so everyone could see just the nest. :)
